crooning cats

I remember a cartoon about a cat who was going to school to learn how to croon? He failed and was put in a corner by a clock. He started keeping time with the clock and all of a sudden he could sing. He jumped on a fence and sang. The first words of the song were "I like to singa about the moon and the juna and the springa." Anyone know anything about this toon? Thanks

Actually, you're describing two different cartoons. The one where the song goes "I love to sing-a" was (surprise -- [i]I Love to Sing-a,[/I] which was directed by Tex Avery and came out in 1936. (The singer was an owl, by the way.) The one with the cat getting rhythm was Katnip Kollege, directed by Hardaway and Dalton, which camt out in 1938. The song the dunce cap wearer sang started "It's easy as rollin' off a log".
